INDY ENERGY INDEPENDENT AND EFFICIENT DEPLOYABLE MILITARY CAMPS
Green energy for independent and efficient military camps
INDY is one of the most innovative European projects in the field of defence and security, aiming to integrate green energy into deployable military camps. This pioneering project strengthens collaboration between civilian and military partners to develop dual-use energy solutions that enhance the efficiency and energy independence of military infrastructures.
A pioneering European project for defence and security
Funded under the EDF-2021 (European Defence Fund) programme, INDY seeks to support the energy transition of the European Union’s military camps. The goal is to implement renewable energy sources, advanced technologies, and disruptive solutions to ensure energy autonomy and operational sustainability in complex military scenarios.
This innovative approach not only improves the energy security of the armed forces but also contributes to reducing the environmental impact of military operations, in line with the EU’s strategic objectives.
Technologies and roadmap for the energy transition of military camps
The ambition of INDY is to define a strategic roadmap for the period 2030-2050, with the objective of creating energy-independent and efficient deployable military camps.
Through collaboration with experienced European partners, such as SIRA Srl (full list of partners), the project aims to develop and test innovative technologies that can be implemented on a large scale in the coming decades.
With INDY, European defence takes a decisive step towards an energy-sustainable and technologically advanced future, enhancing the resilience and operational readiness of its armed forces.
